Matthew, our lead administrator, has a joint PhD in the History of Christianity and Classics from the University of Edinburgh. He has worked at the British School at Rome, the University of Edinburgh, Durham University, and the University of British Columbia. His PhD dissertation was a study of the manuscript transmission of letters of Leo the Great (pope, 440-461), and he has published articles about Leo, the sixth-century Syriac historian John of Ephesus, and high medieval canon law manuscripts. His other research interests include Late Roman letter-writing more broadly, ancient and medieval canon law, Christology, Trinitarian theology, and early monasticism besides Lat Antiquity generally. He lives in Canada with his wife and two sons. His personal blog: The Wordhoard. Twitter: @mjjhoskin.
Ryan Lytton has a BA in Biblical Studies from Life Pacific University, and an MA in Christian Thought from Gordon-Conwell Theological Seminary where he focused on Patristic Theology, specifically how they interpreted scripture. He’s currently submitting applications for PhD programs where he hopes to work on Paul’s use of the Old Testament by examining Patristic authors like Hilary of Poitiers. He has been married to Samantha Lytton (also a Life Pacific graduate) since 2008. Their first child, Marshall, was born in 2014, and their second, Amelia, was born in 2016.
