  1. I am struck by Irenaeus’ minute and precise account of the heresies he is tackling, which my second hand understanding of him didn’t convey. I have also discerned a penchant for humour and soft invective: ‘crack-brained’ is a term I hope to employ as soon as I reasonably can.
