  1. It was interesting to see how many phrases and concepts were present in this letter, particularly in chpts. 9 & 10, which anticipate those in the apostles’ and nicene creeds. In particular, that he was begotten by God (the letter to the Ephesians declares that this was before all ages), that he was crucified and died under Pontius Pilate, that he was raised on the third day, and that he was seated at the right hand of the Father. It contradicts a lot of popular attacks on the faith made today, which claim these assertions were somehow late inventions by the church.
